Week one: SoupStarter round up

Hey there, Soup Fans.

It’s been a whirlwind week for us at Soup HQ. We’ve surpassed a third of our target with 44 backers – thank you!

However, there’s still a way to go in the next 17 days. Please share and retweet our posts where possible and help us to spread the soup love.

So what else is new?

Well, Union of Genius became something of a soupy media darling this week. We were chuffed to be featured on Lunchquest, as well as in Edinburgh Editor and in Edinburgh Reviews. We really appreciate their kind words of support.

We also had the recipe for one of our most popular soups, Celtic Kelpie, appear on the Scotsman’s Food and Drink site and Elaine and Bruce were guests on Leith’s local radio station, Castle FM, talking to Lea Harris of ‘Off the Eaten Track’ about our SoupStarter.

So, you probably already knew that we operate a suspended soup and coffee scheme. (But just in case you didn’t, ‘suspended’ refers to a customer paying for a product but not consuming it. Instead, the sum goes towards providing a hot drink or meal to a homeless person.) Well, our big news this week was to offer a suspended soup for every person who backs us. This is on top of matching every soup that’s suspended. Wow. That’s three times as much soup available for those who can’t afford it: your suspended soup as a backer, the suspended soup which was your reward and the suspended soup which we’ve matched to yours.

Currently we’re totalling 302 suspended soups. How many more can we provide to Edinburgh’s homeless community? Share our Kickstarter page and help us reach £10,000 by June 8th to find out.
